Busy day out in the country

23rd October 2019 – Hampshire

Warning contains potentially distressing image

Sally had a busy day out. First of all rescuing an injured swan off the river in the canoe. It would appear this chap had crashed after hitting an electricity pylon and somehow made his way back on to the water. The wing was smashed and the vet had no alternative but to amputate the wing. Once he has recovered from the operation he will be staying with our long term patients on the lake. On the way back there was another cygnet to be collected from Mildmay vets in Winchester. This one had crashed badly on the M3 and been taken to the vets. He has spinal damage and has lost an eye, time will tell if he will recover.
