Cygnet lost and alone in Walthamstow

14th June 2017 – Dagenham Brook, Walthamstow

This little fellow was reported to us alone and being attacked by crows in the Dagenham Brook flood relief channel. The water was not too deep but awkward to get to, so the rescue team used the kayak to catch the youngster. No sign of a swan family anywhere so the cygnet was brought back the Sanctuary and is now in the crèche with all the other cygnet waifs and strays about his age. So far this year we have taken in 25 of this season’s cygnets.
