30th June – Hackney
Steve, Sally and Gill were out until 4 o’clock in the morning catching this cormorant on the River Lea. It needed the boat and everyone’s ingenuity to finally capture it. We are still not sure how it managed it but it was tangled up with an eel and a hand held catapult which were wrapped tightly round its body and its beak. Despite all that it was still lively and evaded capture for quite some time. It was eventually carefully disentangled but was not the least bit grateful.
