18th – 23rd February – River Lea North London
We were hoping after the oil spill over Christmas the problems on the River Lea were over for a while. This time it was used engine oil and a lot of it. The birds were in a terrible state and it took us most of the week to finally get all the swans that were in trouble along with the geese and ducks we could catch. Unfortunately there were more smaller waterfowl that we could not get to.
The incident made the London news but whether this will have any help in trying to stop this awful situation is yet to be seen. The problems on this stretch of the River Lea seem to be never ending.
