Soggy cygnet

29th October 2020 – Rushmoor

We have a new rescuer, Danni, who has been trained recently and operates in North Surrey. He was called out by concerned residents by a cygnet acting strangely on the lake. The youngster was seen trying to take off from the water and becoming more and more tired and waterlogged. Danni took to his canoe and managed to catch poor chap who was exhausted and wet. He came back to the sanctuary and is now dried out, fed and looking brighter but we think he may have hit his head at some point in learning to fly as he is still unsteady on his feet. He behaves like a human who has had one too many alcoholic drinks. He will stay in the hospital until he can walk a straight line.

With thanks to John and Angela for the photos of Danni in action.
