It is with great sadness we have to report the passing of one of our long standing and very dedicated rescuers. John Potts of Swans and Friends, who operated mainly in Sussex, rescued all sorts of wildlife not just swans. A quick internet search will reveal the variety of animals he would help and was very well known and respected around his Copthorne home. Our thoughts and condolences go out to Linda especially who was his help and support for all these years. We do not have many photos of John, he was not over keen on appearing in front of a camera rather letting his actions speak instead. We have these photographs of John at the Swan Sanctuary during the visit of Princess Alexandra. Even on that day, dressed up for the occasion, he went out to rescue a swan that had become trapped in brambles and brought it back to the Sanctuary. He was covered in scratches and not a little blood when he got back, not that it bothered him in the slightest, he was that kind of person. He will be sorely missed by us all.
