Oiled Swans in Brentford

Swan Sanctuary rescuers Sally Thomson and Steve Knight were called out to attend an incident near Brentford Lock West London on the Grand Union Canal where the resident pair had been swimming through a spill of diesel oil caused be recent engineering work in the area.

Borrowing a dredger belonging to the Canal and Rivers Trust they managed to catch the pair and take them to the Sanctuary where they were cleaned and fed. They will be returned to the canal once the oil has been cleaned up. The pictures show the before and after result of cleaning one of the pair.
