Royal Visit

2nd July 2019 – Shepperton

The Swan Sanctuary has never seen so many people on site, we even had to have some of the volunteers on car park duty so we could get everyone in.

Her Royal Highness Princess Alexandra of Kent visited the Swan Sanctuary to look round the site to see the work we do and to present us with the Queens’s Award for Voluntary Service. The place has never looked so tidy there was talk of sweeping the car park and definitely a whiff of fresh paint about the place. As well as the Princess’ visit it is the first opportunity we have had for nearly all our volunteers to meet at the same time, in some cases for the first time, from all over the country. It was also a chance to meet and thank our benefactors and supporters. The Princess enjoyed the visit and being keen on wildlife herself was interested to meet our patients and see the work we do.
